  • Yomiuri Telecasting and IDA go to business and capital tie up through the contents strategy to merge digital image contents production with the innovations of the semi-key station in Osaka
February 25, 2014|

An image contents production studio constantly added with unique edges will develop various made-in-Japan contents
for domestic and international markets through affiliation and collaboration with a semi-key TV station in Osaka!

Yomiuri Telecasting Corporation has acquired the shares of IDA, Inc. , a company producing a range of digital contents and
characters for domestic and international markets.

Yomiuri Telecasting values IDA’s ability to build visual strategies based on internet infrastructure and expertise in producing
powerful visual contents, characters, CG, special effects, models, etc.
IDA, on the other hand, look to Yomiuri Telecasting’s production support and terrestrial broadcasting infrastructure.

Since 2012, IDA has been running a series called < Jumbo Monster Gomera >, the company’s original character,
on a kids’ magazine from Shogakukan, Televikun.
Along with the serial publication, complimentary DVD of the same title is released quarterly,
with annual total distribution reaching around 1.4 million discs.
Also, original products tied up with the character are sold on Amazon. The business model,
in which the copyright holder of a character takes charge of creating and selling both the visual contents and related goods,
materializes a new license revenue model where the rights deriving from a character is uniformly handled.
IDA is going to develop a model where visual delivery is coordinated with goods sales on domestic and overseas internet infrastructure.
It will also expand multilingual contents distribution and goods sales across different countries.

In the future, the company will launch various overseas marketing strategies through its subsidiary in Los Angeles
(contact office for CG production commissions) and a branch in Bangkok (supported by Thai government’s industrial promotion initiative, BOI ).
